Abstract
This digital capstone project is routed in urban studies and digital humanities, the goal of this website is to educate urban communities about Black Economic Empowerment and it’s worth in America. This research will uncover the power of the urban dollar by examining the struggles encountered by urban communities that strive to achieve socio economic mobility. This study will also take a detailed look at the power of career choices, homeownership, religion, social injustices, and local businesses through text, audio recordings, video clips and archives. While some continue to ignore the power of black economic empowerment, it’s obvious that the currency in urban communities contribute enormously to the American economy. I will attempt to present this data through several multimedia outlets on this digital platform, which will be referred herein as a website.
Black Economic Empowerment is rooted in community, opportunity, and self-efficacy. The ability for urban communities to gain financial literacy, market a diverse skill set, and gain knowledge about basic rights as citizens of the community has become key to the effectiveness of this concept. This project explores the historic and contemporary dilemma behind Black Economic Empowerment and how sharing information in urban communities will contribute to sustainability within the American economy. This digital capstone project will identify several aspects of black economics through categories in WordPress. I will attempt to incorporate original text, music, poetry, video, and graphs through excel sheets for each section dedicated to defining how Black Economic Empowerment lends to American sovereignty. The objective of this website is to educate on line visitors about methods of learning and contributing in urban communities for the enlightenment of scholars as well as blue collar workers about the power of Black Economic Empowerment.
Ultimately, by providing this information we strengthen our urban communities and educate the academy about the importance of non traditional urban scholarship. In time this will ensure that we build productive disciplines for the next generation, which will break the cycle that has unfortunately become a way of life in urban communities.
